An interesting little ditty came back to mind the other day, one I used to often repeat as a kid: “You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream!” No clue where it came from; not sure why, really. I do know that my whole family loved ice cream — especially my father — and, as a kid, we used to make a trip every Sunday to an ice cream parlor for our weekly treat. By the way, I still love ice cream and eat a portion at almost every opportunity I get. Perhaps though, the memory was invoked just prior to a conversation I had recently with the owner of a new business venture in St. Charles. It will be an iteration of “Forever Yogurt” (frozen yogurt) and will take up residence on the southeast corner of Main Street (Route 64) and South Second Street (Route 31) in Saint Charles.
Frozen yogurt is quickly becoming a trend in and around Chicago. Lincoln Park, which will soon be getting two new trendy froyo options, is no exception.
Longstanding record store Bleecker Bob’s has had a rough past year. In early 2012, the Times reported that, after decades in business, the shop might turn into a Starbucks. Fortunately, the Starbucks rumor turned out to be false, but Bob’s will indeed have to close sometime this year. Unless, however, it decides to share a space with the frozen-yogurt chain that’s planning to move in this summer. DNAinfo writes that the national fro-yo yogurt chain moving into Bob’s storefront has offered it some counter space. Forever Yogurt’s CEO Mandy Calara explained: “We’re talking with them about a counter with their inventory. And we’re decorating the place so it carries on the design of Bleecker Bob’s.” Which to be honest, sounds pretty weird.
Chicago-based yogurt chain Forever Yogurt could open as many as six stores in Baltimore. Forever Yogurt is planning to open at Charles and Cross streets in Baltimore, and is mulling four or five additional stores, according to the company.
Chicago-based yogurt chain Forever Yogurt plans to open a store in D.C.’s Adams Morgan neighborhood this spring and would like to open four to five more in the area during the next three years, according to the company.
GREENWICH VILLAGE — Looking for some vanilla with your vinyl? A national frozen yogurt chain has signed a lease at the decades-old West Third Street record store Bleecker Bob’s Golden Oldies, with a proposal to retain a portion of the iconic record store at the address.
